Misaki - Jogashima Trip (GW Series)

After two consecutive days of wearing ourselves out, we enjoyed a relaxing day in Jogashima. Jogashima takes about an hour from Yokohama. We used the Misaki Maguro Ticket during our trip. My friends and I met in JR Tsurumi station at around 7:30 AM and headed to Keikyu Tsurumi station, purchased our ticket from the ticketing machine and proceeded to the platform.

The price of the ticket was 200 yen more expensive than what's indicated in the website, probably because of the tax increase implemented last month.

We arrived in Misakiguchi station around 9:30 AM. There were actually many places we can visit with the ticket we bought but we decided to just go to Misaki Port before going to Jogashima.

From Misakiguchi station, we took the bus to Misaki Port. Luckily, I was able to sit comfortably inside the bus.

We were clueless as to where to go and what to see in Misaki Port. We walked to the market and checked what's inside but got out soon because we didn't intend to buy.

It was a very fine day. The sun was up and the wind was cool. We sat along the port and enjoyed fooling around while eating some chips.

More and more people gathered in the port around 11 AM. We wanted to use the ferry to Jogashima (covered by the ticket we had) but it would mean waiting for 40 more minutes so we boarded the bus instead.

Upon arrival in Jogashima, we strolled for a while then started checking restaurants for our free lunch. Yes, free lunch! The ticket we bought included a free lunch from the participating restaurants. We decided to have lunch in Shibukitei and it was a little crowded so we had to wait for a few minutes.

I ordered tuna don. The meal came complete with miso soup, side dishes, fried squid and tuna katsu. The tuna was so delicious. We even got a freebie from the restaurant. I'm not exactly sure how they call it but I think it's an appetizer. All of us got one jar each.

We rested for a while before heading out. We first visited the western side of the island. The view was breathtaking. I wanted to sleep on the grass because the wind was so cool and my tummy was full. That rhymed!

I've never seen such wonderful rock formations before; artistically sculpted by mother nature.

The great balance between green and blue...

The sound of the waves as they crash into the huge rocks...

From the west, we walked to the eastern part of the island to see the lighthouse. It was a bit far but I couldn't complain so much about how my legs hurt because the view was so beautiful I didn't care about the pain anymore.

We saw many groups having a barbecue party and I envied them. I wanted to have a barbecue party, too!

We continued traversing the shore, then up the hill...

...until we reached the lighthouse.

Where we did crazy stuff...

After playing like crazy near the lighthouse, we went back to the western part of the island to witness the sunset. I wanted to take a photo of "Diamond Fuji" but it was cloudy and Mt. Fuji hid among the clouds.
Nonetheless, I was able to take a commemorative photo of our visit. Lots of thanks to my ever cooperative friend/model Kai-san.

I will definitely visit this place again.
