Akihabara

So, I'm here in Japan again. It's summer and I'm not liking it. Japan's summer is so humid; it's almost unbearable.

I needed to do some business in Akihabara so I went out despite the scorching heat of the sun; of course I didn't forget to bring a towel to wipe my sweat off. Akihabara station is 42 minutes away from where I live, costs 450 yen, one way.

Akihabara, also called Akiba, is known for electronic, manga, and anime goods. There are brand new and second hand products that you can buy. The second hand products are still great. They are classified into class A, B, C and so on depending on the quality. Basically, people who want to buy gadgets come here. There are a lot of foreigners walking around, checking stuff, and everyone looked really amazed with the place. I saw many Filipinos there, too. We didn't talk, but when our eyes met, we knew we're both Filipinos so we just exchanged smiles and walked on.

Many stores in Akihabara offer a good deal to tourists. There are duty free shops and even big stores like Sofmap and Yodobashi that offer 5% off when you show them your passport. As far as I know, tourists who are staying in Japan only for 6 months or less can avail the discounts. I'm not very sure about that so if you're staying for a long time, it wouldn't hurt to take your passport with you and give it a try.

So I guess I'll just show some photos of Akihabara. I was shooting randomly. It wasn't a good idea to take photos at noon.

Akihabara is also known as the home of the pop group AKB48

this is actually the reason why i came. I was led to the outlet store by the staff, 5 minutes on foot from this stall.

I didn't really walk around so much last weekend so I only have few photos. I have photos from my previous visit that might be interesting for you guys.

they sell used cameras like this.

and the maid cafes
I know I'll be back in Akihabara again, soon.
