Batting & Bouldering (GW Series)

To continue with my GW series of activities, I went to a batting center and climbing gym with my group mates. We went out around 10 AM to maximize the time we had. We headed to the batting center in Kawasaki first; arrived quite early so the batting area was not yet ready. It didn't take long before we were allowed to enter the batting area. During my first try, I wasn't able to hit any ball but was able to hit some during the second one. Didn't get a home run though.

We also tried archery and it was difficult. I think my hands got tired from batting that I couldn't pull the string in the bow properly which resulted to the arrow landing before the target.

thumbs up
We stayed for 90 minutes in the gaming center and tried other games while waiting for the time to be over. From there, we went back to Tsurumi station and had lunch in one of the fast food chains nearby. We even seated next to the table of a fellow Filipino and chatted for a few minutes.

We then headed to the bus stop and took the bus to Shinmeishamae. The gym's website said that it only takes a minute from the bus stop to the gym but it was not that easy to find it. After getting lost for a while, we finally found the gym with the help of a student who lives in the area.

When we arrived in the gym, I was a bit surprised because it looked like the gym was being renovated. We were greeted by the receptionist and we told him that we want to go wall climbing. We didn't understand everything he said but we were told that we couldn't go wall climbing in that gym. He instructed us to go to their other gym in Toibashi which was 15 minutes away by bus.

When we arrived in the gym in Toibashi, I felt really excited. The gym was big and the facilities were good. The receptionist asked us if we have experience in wall climbing which we honestly answered with "no". He said he recommends bouldering for beginners like us and he would give us basic climbing lesson for free.

After the lesson, we started doing it by ourselves. It was more difficult than I imagined it to be.

almost there

We arrived in the gym at around 3:30 PM. We can actually use the gym until 10 PM but our body gave up around 7:30 PM. We wanted to stay longer but our grip got weaker and weaker so we called it a day.

satisfied!

We were very satisfied with the activities we did during that day. It was a dream come true for me to go to a batting center and a climbing gym. We headed back to Tsurumi station by bus and had dinner before boarding the train back to Asano. As expected, my arms were sore the next day.

For those living near Tsurumi and would love to try indoor climbing, visit Big Rock's website for more details.
